A Unique Wedding at Grendon Lakes

Victoria & Scott’s Wedding at Grendon Lakes

Returning to Grendon Lakes, nestled in the heart of Northamptonshire, always feels like coming back to an old friend. This lakeside gem never fails to dazzle, and Victoria and Scott’s wedding was no exception.

About a month before the big day, I met up with the soon-to-be-married couple at a cozy café in Rushden Lakes. Instantly, we hit it off, and their laid-back vibe made me feel right at home (thanks for the coffee, guys!). They were clearly excited to celebrate their special day surrounded by their loved ones.

Having photographed countless weddings, I thought I’d seen it all, but Victoria and Scott had a thrilling surprise up their sleeves. With Grendon Lakes boasting a magnificent expanse of water, they had arranged for a speedboat to whisk them across the lake. They wanted me to capture this exhilarating adventure, and I left our meeting buzzing with anticipation.

The wedding day arrived, and I found myself back at Grendon Lakes bright and early, ready to explore new creative possibilities. Despite my familiarity with the venue, its vastness always offers fresh and exciting opportunities for stunning shots.

I was on hand to document everything from the bridal preparations to the first dance. Victoria got ready onsite with her bridal party, filling the morning with laughter and excitement. A delightful little girl with the cutest smile added extra charm to the bridal prep. Victoria looked absolutely radiant in her dress, her smile brighter than the sun.

Grendon Lakes is such a unique wedding venue

The original plan was an outdoor ceremony by the lake, but the unpredictable weather had other ideas, moving us indoors. However, this didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits. Scott and his groomsmen looked dapper, and as Victoria walked down the aisle, pride and happiness radiated from both of them. The ceremony was filled with joy, and everywhere I looked, friends and family beamed with happiness for the newlyweds. Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs.!

Post-ceremony, we all gathered outside for a lively confetti shot and a fabulous drinks reception. The make-your-own cocktail bar was a hit, and fortunately, the weather was on our side for the speedboat adventure.

During the drinks reception, we hopped on the speedboat, and all I can say is WOW! The speed and excitement were off the charts. Victoria and Scott’s expressions as we zoomed across the lake were priceless. It was an unforgettable experience, and I was thrilled to capture it all.

Back on solid ground, the celebrations continued with group photos and a delightful wedding breakfast. Although the couple was initially unsure about speeches, they delivered a heartfelt one, complemented by an impromptu, emotional speech from a guest that left everyone a bit teary-eyed.

The rest of the day flew by in a whirlwind of fun and laughter. The kids ran around joyfully, and the guests had a blast, sharing laughs and creating memories. Every time I pointed my camera, there was another moment of happiness to capture.

A huge thank you to Victoria and Scott, their wonderful guests, and the fantastic staff at Grendon Lakes for making me feel so welcome and ensuring a perfect day for everyone. It was truly a joy to be part of such a magical celebration!
