My Final Wedding of 2024: Elaina & Max at The Granary at Fawsley

An Autumn Wedding at ‘The Granary at Fawsley’

As November came to a close, I wrapped up my wedding season with one last magical celebration at The Granary at Fawsley. This charming Northamptonshire wedding venue never fails to amaze me, and returning here always feels like a treat.

A Funny Little Coincidence

Before the big day, there was a fun little twist. Elaina and Max, the couple tying the knot, met Chloe & Greg—a couple whose wedding I’d photographed just months earlier at the same venue! Both couples discovered I was capturing their wedding day while bumping into each other at The Granary at Fawsley’s open day!

A Lovely Couple, Rainy Weather, and a Creative Plan

Around a month before their wedding day, we had a great chat via Zoom, to go through their wedding timeline, and have a general chin wag. Within minutes, I knew they were an absolute delight—kind, warm, and so easy to chat with.

When their wedding day arrived, the weather threw everything at us—rain, wind, and more rain! But no one let it dampen their spirits. Knowing the forecast ahead of time gave me the chance to plan creative indoor portraits and sheltered spots for group photos. Having photographed several weddings at The Granary at Fawsley, I knew the venue well and was able to adapt quickly.

Bridal Prep: Calm Before the Celebration

Elaina’s bridal prep was refreshingly relaxed—none of the usual chaos, just smiles all around. She chose to keep this part of the day simple, so I stayed later into the evening instead. Before long, she was stepping into her beautiful dress for an emotional first look with her dad. His pride and love were written all over his face—one of those moments that’s a joy to photograph.

The Grain store – A Ceremony Room Full of Emotion

The ceremony was packed with joy, laughter, and a few happy tears. Their son, Harrison, stole the show as the cutest ring bearer, strutting down the aisle with his tiny suitcase.

As the weather wasn’t on our side, the traditional outdoor confetti throw took a creative twist. Instead, guests showered the couple with confetti as they walked back down the aisle. It worked brilliantly and made for some unforgettable photos.

The Barn: The Heart of the Celebration

The Granary’s barn was the perfect hub for the day’s festivities. From the drinks reception to the speeches and evening party, it was filled with warmth and laughter.

Despite the rain, we managed to capture a few portraits outside and completed the group shots in the barn. The atmosphere was amazing, with guests enjoying cheeky drinks, delicious canapés, and plenty of giggles.

A Lovely Surprise

Here’s a fun little story from the day. During the wedding breakfast, I had a chat with Charlotte, The Granary’s fantastic wedding planner. I mentioned how much I love photographing weddings at this venue and casually asked if I could be added to their recommended suppliers list.

Her response? “You already are!”

I was floored—in the best way possible! Charlotte even pulled up the website to show me, and there I was, listed as a recommended supplier for over a year without even realising it. Safe to say, that moment left me grinning ear to ear.

Evening Portraits and Unique Fun

As evening fell, the rain and wind persisted, but Elaina and Max were game for some creative portraits. We made the most of the weather with quick, pre-planned shots outside that turned out beautifully.

Elaina also requested a unique photo in The Granary’s iconic bathtub, and Max joined in on the fun with his best man. These shots were a hit and added a quirky, personal touch to their gallery.

Another highlight was their sofa setup with props and music for quick guest photos. Every single guest joined the fun, and the photos turned out brilliantly.

Dancefloor Magic

After cake cutting and a sweet first dance, the newlyweds hit the dancefloor, and their guests weren’t far behind. If you know me, you’ll know I love capturing dancefloor moments, and this wedding didn’t disappoint. From epic moves to hilarious antics, it was a blast from start to finish.

A Huge Thank You

Elaina and Max, thank you for letting me capture your incredible day. It was an absolute joy, and your unique touches made it truly unforgettable.

To The Granary at Fawsley team, thank you for your incredible work in making every detail of the day run seamlessly. It’s always a pleasure working at this stunning venue.
